Not long ago, I found a link to an ISP called Rosenet, and there found PHP
code freely offered for PHP/mySQL projects, including a calendar, a
catalog, and a shopping cart. (And a handy HTML front end to MySQL!)
http://modems.rosenet.net/mysql/
The code they offer, though kind of simple, seems adequate for most
purposes. I tested it and it worked just fine. I was only able to break
it once and that was trivial to fix.
Further, it wasn't very difficult to use MS Access over a local network to
maintain the mysql database using the Access GUI, via mysql odbc drivers I
found somewhere around the mysql site.
Simple PHP shopping cart, easy to maintain, simple code, free.
Might save reinventing some stuff.

PS: Whoever does the PHP3 links on www.php3.net, why not add this link?
All the code at this link (http://http://modems.rosenet.net/mysql/) uses PHP.
