I am pretty much at the point where any product to which I do not have the
source code is automatically eliminated from being part of any mission
critical system I build. I don't care how good the tech support is for it
today. What happens tomorrow when the company is sold, or changes its
business focus? I don't mind commercial products, and good tech support
is cool, but unless they give me the source code I am not interested. I
want the security of being able to go in and fix things myself, or the
potential to go and pay someone to go in and fix it for me.
