Is there a way of checking whether a file write will fail before trying to
do it? Given is_readable returns true if the file exists and is readable, I
would expect is_writeable to return true if the filename I gave would write
without an error. (ie, it doesn't have to be there for it to be writeable
if I want to create it).
James.
