I know of no plugin that will display TIFF images directly. And if there
was one, relying on users having it would be a bad idea.

There are server-side tools that can automatically convert all the images,
or scriptable tools to do the conversion beforehand, so you probably won't
need to convert tons of images by hand.

Of course, what hardware/OS you are using pretty much determines which
tools to recommend, so post that to the list (not direct, I only know a few
tools on a few systems).
