Re: [PHP3] Visual Editor? From: Nick Zukin (nickz <email protected>)

There's nothing really good on Mac yet. I've bitched to Bare Bones
(makes of BBedit) and they say they're working on at least allowing
users to build their own reserved word lists, etc. I usually just do
my PHP stuff on PC using EditPlus 2.

Both Dreamweaver and BBedit can almost work if you use javascript or
C++ highlighting.

I am testing out Alpha right now, though. You can write your own
extensions to it and do way more than just reserved word
highlighting, but it seems fairly tough. I think you write it in
TCL. They're called modes and it has lots of built-in modes already,
but non PHP. I may try to at least write a mode that does syntax
highlighting. That'd be something and then I would be much more
inclined to use my Mac for editing PHP.

btw, you can write extensions in dreamweaver to do custom behaviours.
I don't think you can get custom syntax highlighting, I don't know,
but you could turn dreamweaver into a semi-visual php builder like it
is for javascript.
