RE: [PHP3]hi.. i want to execute some shell command as root From: Bjorn Sodergren (sweede <email protected>)

heh, actually, i have the same question, but i am the admin of a dedicated
server, and want to write some type of control panel for myself and maybe
the clients. what i was thinking about was writting a script that would be
the "middle man" between the file (or binary), and the web interface (which
would be run on other than port 80, and password protected).
since i dont know perl, everything would be done in php, and since php runs
as the user/group apache is, i was thinking about using user httpd / group
root , then any file that needs to be modified or ran, would be executable
by group root.

any better ideas, please email me directly to keep any ideas away from this
script kiddie.

thanks,
bjorn
