to connect to Oracle8i do the following:
/* Connect to Oracle */
$conn = OCILogon("Username","password");
/* Connected */
to query the database do the following:
$stmt = ociparse($conn,"sql query");
ociexecute($stmt);
$nrows = OCIFetchStatement($stmt,$results);
$results is an array and contains the resultset of your query.
to extract the first element of the array try:
$column = each($results);
$data = $column['value'];
echo "$data";
