Apparently, it's the real deal. I checked on a couple of software sites, and
it's listed as a copy of Oracle 8i Standard Edition. Other than that, I
can't tell what the licensing is. One connection? Five connections? Web use
allowed?
This I can say. After the absolute nightmare I went through trying to get
Oracle 8i installed on Linux a couple of months ago, you'd have to hit me
repeatedly with a lead pipe to get me to do it again. Sybase was MUCH
easier, and frankly, is overkill for most web projects anyway.

Wasn't Oracle offering a free download of its server software for
evaluation purposes and a real limited number of connections?...
You don't suppose somebody would slap that on a CD in a box with a
"manual" and sell it for $90, would you?... :-)
