Thanks a lot for your answer.

This problem kept me trying over and over again with little
modifications in the configurations of Apache, MySQL and PHP in
different combinations. It took some time on my 486 DX-2/80.... ;-) But
now it's good to know, that I can stop trying.

Maybe I should have read the postings on this list more carefully,
because I think I remember that somebody (you?) already mentioned this.
