PHP, Java and Browser Detection

One aspect of web development that has been intriguing to me for a long time is browser detection and browser-customized content development. Besides simply being a cool feature, there are legitimate business cases for using browser detection in a real-world web application. The problem is that there are so many combinations of browsers, versions and platforms that it becomes cumbersome to develop a custom browser detection solution.

The good news is that BrowserHawk ® is available so there is no need for a custom solution. BrowserHawk is a great example of a third-party tool that has been developed with a long-term vision. BrowserHawk not only detects the capabilities of all the current browsers, but it is built with a self-updating database so it can detect new browsers as they become available.
